College Dual Credit Program Students who are academically qualified and accepted by Marian College may receive both high school and college credit in three subject areas taught by adjunct faculty of Marian College of Fond du Lac: English, Physics, and Calculus. A total of 5 college credits can be earned for calculus, 7 credits of english, and 8 credits of physics.
The college credit received may be transferable to other colleges and universities. However, neither Marian College nor St. Mary's Springs High School can guarantee the transfer of credits to other colleges or universities. The student must contact the admissions office at those institutions to verify transfer policies.
To be eligible for acceptance into the Dual Credit Program at Marian College, students must:
1. Have a grade point average of B within the discipline (both math and science for College
Physics) and completed appropriate prerequisite courses
AND
rank in the top quartile
OR
have a cumulative GPA of 3.2
OR
score in the top 15% of the most recent standardized test (PLAN, PSAT, ACT) And have a
3.0 GPA.
3. Complete SMS registration process and receive recommendation from your guidance
counselor and the teacher of the dual credit course.
4. Complete the Marian College application form with a required fee.
5. Receive final acceptance for registration from Marian.

MT 201 Calculus I
5 credits A first course in the calculus treating functions of one variable. Topics include limits, continuity, derivatives and integrals of polynomial rational functions. A major emphasis of this course is the application of these concepts to problems arising out of industry, economics, business and the sciences.

En 101L Research Writing Across The Curriculum
En 112 Introduction to Literary Genres
7 credits Freshman Composition is a course to develop expository writing skills useful in college. Students learn the several processes that writing comprises. They study and write several kinds of expository prose. They are expected to become competent in standard edited English. A research paper is required.
Research Writing Across The Curriculum is a course introducing the students to the principles of college research with emphasis on analytical reading of research material, focused use of sources, and the methodology of citation and documentation. Research Writing acquaints students with techniques of interviewing and of conducting surveys as well as with search strategies involving print resources. The course provides guidance for students as they apply research principles to subjects within their disciplines or areas of interest.
Introduction to Literary Genres is a study of the short story, poetry and drama, employing methods of formal and structural analysis. While the works studies represent several eras, the emphasis is on modern and contemporary literature.

PhS 201 Physics I
PhS 202 Physics II
8 credits This course is designed for the student capable of and motivated to complete a college level physics course during their senior year in high school. Physics I is a lecture/laboratory course which stresses the fundamental principles of mechanics, kinematics, momentum, statics, work and energy. Semester two is a continuation of PhS. 201 including the principles of wave theory, light and optics, electricity and magnetism and atoms and radioactivity.
