Frequently asked questions

1.  What is the average class size at Springs?

The average class has 17 students.  We offer a 12:1 student to teacher ratio.

2.  What percentage of students receive tuition assistance?

For the 2007-2008 school year, 50% of students received tuition assistance.

3.  I have gone to school with the same people for the last eight years and I want the chance to meet new people...will I be able to do that at Springs?

Absolutely!  Students that attend Springs come from over 20 different middle schools.  In fact, the freshmen class for 2007-2008 had students from 18 different schools including FACES, Sabish, Theisen, Woodworth, Bessie Allen, Shepherd of the Hills, Consolidated Parochial Elementary School, St. Matthew's, Campbellsport Junior High, CCLT, Lomira Public, Holy Trinity, Kewaskum Middle School, Oakfield Middle School, New Holstein, Holy Rosary, Holy Angels in West Bend, Slinger Public Middle School, Brandon, Waupun Middle School and Elkhart Lake.

4.  I like spending time with my friends...will I have classes with them and see them throughout the day?

Absolutely!  You will most likely have at least 3 or 4 classes with your friends and probably more.  You have a 50% chance of having lunch with your friends and you are guaranteed to see each other in the halls.

5.  Will I have classes only with freshmen?

No.  It is probable that you will have classes with sophomores and possibly even juniors and seniors.  Keyboarding, computer applications, basic design, other art courses, band and choir have students from all grades in them.  Not only will you get to meet new freshmen from 18 different middle schools, you will meet upperclassmen as well.

6.  I don't play sports.  Will I fit in at Springs?

Absolutely!  With over twenty clubs and an annual Fall play and Spring musical, there is something for everyone to be involved in and have fun without having to play sports.

7.  What Co-Curricular Activities do you offer?

In addition to the All School Play and the Spring Musical, we also have the following:  Art Club, Campus Ministry, Chess Club, Drama Club, Forensics, Key Club, Math Club, Music Liturgy, National Honor Society, ONE Club, Peer Helpers, Ping Pong Club, Student Ambassadors, Student Council, Student Newspaper, Vocal Jazz Ensemble and Yearbook.  Newly added is the Investment Club and the Jazz Band. Springs also offers a new Bowling Club. 

8.  Is the Springs affordable?

Absolutely! For the '07-'08 school year, 130 qualified Springs students received tuition assistance totaling $350,000.  This amount averaged out to 50% of all the students. St. Mary's Springs is a regional, Catholic High School owned by the Archdiocese of Milwaukee.  Admission is open to all qualified students regardless of your family's financial situation. Families of all economic backgrounds send their children to the Springs.  Don't let tuition cost deter your decision-making process.

9.  Springs is a college preparatory school.  Does that mean I have to want to go to college in order to attend Springs?

No.  As a college prep school, our curriculum is designed to prepare students to pursue some form of postsecondary education.  That means that we graduate students who have the academic background to be successful at any college or university.  If students choose to enter the military or the workforce, they have a strong knowledge base to be successful.

10.  What colleges or universities do Springs alums attend?

Springs alums have enrolled in many different colleges and universities.  Some of them include the UW Madison, Milwaukee, Green Bay, Stevens Point, La Crosse, Eau Claire, Whitewater, Oshkosh and Fond du Lac, Moraine Park, Northwestern, George Washington, Massachusetts Institute of Technology, Loyola, Marquette, Naval Academy, St. Norbert's, Georgetown, Xavier, St. John's University, University of St. Louis, Notre Dame, and many more. 

11. Is transportation available?

St. Mary's Springs students come from far and near. While many students come from Fond du Lac County, students also come from the counties of Winnebago, Dodge, Sheboygan, Calumet, Washington, and Manitowoc as well.

At St. Mary's Springs, we strive to help you find the best suited transportation option. Most of our families find convenience through car pooling. We help to identify other families living in your area to help assist with your car pool arrangements. We also offer limited bus transportation to the Springs which is provided through certain school districts. Please contact the Recruitment Office at (920) 921-4870 ext. 2218 for specific details pertaining to bus transportation or car pooling arrangements.
